Ten years. One question. Today NIMBUS turns ten.

Ten years ago, it was one studio, only three saunas and a fairly loose idea that people needed somewhere to stop. No app, no protocol, no optimisation. Just heat, and a door that closed behind you. A lot has changed. Eight studios now, across four states. What hasn't changed is the reason any of it exists.

Today NIMBUS turns ten.

Ten years ago it was one studio, three saunas and a fairly loose idea that people needed somewhere to stop. No app, no protocol, no optimisation. Just heat, and a door that closed behind you.

A lot has changed. Eight studios now, across four states. What hasn't changed is the reason any of it exists.

We'll share stories and images throughout the month, but for now, instead of writing about ourselves, we asked three people we've come up alongside a single question.

What does wellbeing mean to you?

Here's what they said.

Pernille, The Gut Co

"For me, wellness isn't about doing more; it's about creating space. It's making time to rest without guilt, to sit quietly with my thoughts, to walk in nature, or to go in the sauna simply because my body and mind need it.

In a world that celebrates being constantly busy, I believe true wellness is found in slowing down and intentionally giving ourselves moments to reset. Those pauses allow us to reconnect with ourselves, reduce stress, and support the body's natural ability to heal.

To me, that is what wellness truly looks like."

Sarah, Embody Me

"Wellbeing, to me, is feeling grounded, energised and fully alive. It's feeling connected to my body, present in my life and more like myself, so I can move through the world with courage, joy, peace, and kindness."

Zali, Loco Love

"Wellbeing is a state of harmony with self, life, spirit, and others. It is being able to stay resilient in times of stress, and to fully experience joy when the moment is ripe.

It is choosing the inputs you truly need in the moment. True wellbeing is knowing yourself and your needs, and being able to meet them. It's finding beauty in the ordinary and living in alignment with your values. It's noticing your body's intuition and being able to listen to it.

Wellbeing is a strong sense of belonging to community, and a good night's sleep."

NIMBUS has a long history with Loco Love. When we first opened in Bondi in 2016, their founder Emica used to drop over chocolates she'd hand-picked herself. That's the kind of thing you don't forget. They're thirteen years in now and going from strength to strength.

What we noticed

Three people. Three businesses. Nobody compared notes.

Not one of them mentioned a metric. No scores, no streaks, no protocols. Pernille talked about rest without guilt. Sarah talked about feeling like herself. Zali talked about belonging, and sleep.

Ten years in this industry and it would be easy to conclude the whole thing has become about optimisation. Data, wearables, stacking, tracking. But ask people who've built real businesses in it what wellbeing actually means to them, and they talk about slowing down.

That's the part we'd want to hold onto.

Thank you

To Pernille, Sarah and Zali, thank you for answering. Thanks for your support, and well done to you too.

To everyone who's walked through our NIMBUS doors over the last ten years, some of you since that first room in Bondi, thank you. You're the reason there's a tenth birthday for NIMBUS to write about.

Here's to the next ten.
