Keep Your Skin, Gut & Happy Hormones Happy These Holidays
I cannot believe we are nearing the end of 2025. I am so grateful and impressed by all of my wonderful clients this year - you should be proud of the deep commitment you’ve shown to taking back control of your health.
My holidays will be spent on the Gold Coast, sunbaking at Talle Creek (smothered in Mother SPF, of course), reading lots of books and going for sunrise walks.
I wanted to share some tips on how to stay on track with your skin, gut & hormone goals this silly season, so find those below, so we can HIT THE GROUND RUNNING in 2026.
Silly Season Tips to Keep Your Skin, Gut & Hormones Happy
-
You can still take your supplements and use your prescription skincare morning & night, even if you’re out of routine! This does not have to change.
-
Start each day with a protein-rich breakfast. I know there will be lots of indulgent long lunches and dinner feasts, but there’s no reason you can’t set your day up right with 30g + of protein.
-
A tip for not overdoing it at the dessert buffet: select 1 dessert and enjoy it thoroughly, and finish it with absolutely no guilt. It doesn’t have to turn into a binge!
-
going to a Friendsmas? Make your cheeseboard more in line with your skin goals: Olina's GF seeded crackers, Pilpel hummus, beef liver pate, berries, dark chocolate, Meredith dairy goat’s cheese, olives, etc.
-
Choose your alcohol wisely; If you’re histamine intolerant or suffer from Rosacea or Perioral dermatitis, opt for something low-histamine (clear spirits like vodka, gina and silver tequila).
-
if you have acne, opt for lower-sugar drinks like vodka lime and sodas, champagne, or sugar-free seltzers! Sugary cocktails and mixed drinks are a nightmare combination when it comes to acne (think about histamine and sugar content, and the load on your liver!).
-
Before and after drinking alcohol: HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE and also take some electrolytes. I recommend: NIMBUS Cloud Form, Hydramamma or Ancient Lakes to lots of my clients.
-
Scared of your digestion suffering this Christmas? If you have a script for digestive enzymes from me, ensure take take 1-2 capsules with big meals throughout the holidays as this can really help take the load off your gut and keep gas, bloating and constipation at bay. If you’re an existing client who would like a script these holidays, email me!
-
Ditch the ‘all or nothing’ mindset! If you overindulge on Christmas Day (and most of us will), this doesn’t need to turn into a super indulgent week, just like an indulgent lunch doesn’t need to turn into an indulgent dinner. Leave ‘slip ups’ or splurges where they are, & jump back into your skin-loving diet habits at the next meal. Staying on track even 50% of the time is going to be better for your overall trajectory than throwing in the towel altogether this silly season.
-
always take your makeup off after Christmas parties and big nights!
-
it’s Summer, do you have a good sunscreen? Ask your skin therapist for one, otherwise brands I am loving include Mother SPF, SIMKA, Little Urchin & Avocado Zinc. Opt for one that is non-comedogenic so it doesn’t clog your skin.
-
Keep your body moving! A 20 minute walk after your roast lunch + sticking to your gym schedule on non-public holidays can help to keep your blood sugar levels stable and lymphatics pumping during the holidays.
-
Load up your plate with protein at every feast! There will no doubt be some turkey, ham or seafood on offer, so load your plate up with these FIRST.
-
keep up with the basics: no coffee on an empty tummy, drink 3L of water per day, nights that you aren’t partying- keep your bedtime early and consistent (don’t use the holidays as an excuse to start going to bed at 11pm)
-
I know lots of you have been cooped up in the office all year, so take advantage of the sunshine and go for sunrise walks, get 20 minutes of sunlight directly into your eyes every morning (great for adrenal regulation, and Vitamin D!).
-
don’t forget: the best thing you can do for your skin is take a holiday so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to RELAX and enjoy yourself.
